Skinny bodies may be ridiculed in the media but the pressure to look thin is fiercer than ever. It’s enough to make me wonder, “will I eat a chicken wing in this town ever again”?

I’ve always lived by the mantra of “if you don’t like something, change it”, and since I’ve been back in Los Angeles after almost ten years in Atlanta I am doing just that!

Living in Atlanta made me a little lazy. There was no big thing if you gained 5 pounds, it’s the south, people gotta eat..right?  I’d gained about 10 pounds the first two years of being there and maintained that weight gain for about six years, then fast forward to today. I found myself gaining a couple pounds a year and the weight was becoming harder to drop.

I noticed the weight gain too, I felt it in by back, legs, etc etc etc, lol.  My friends would say, “girl you good, men like it thick in the south so you straight”.

Despite all this, I kept a membership at the gym. I’d wake up each morning and run up my steps for about 20 or 30 minutes, go outside and walk up my hill, jog around the block, go to the gym– all in one day. Throughout all that, I didn’t see any real results.

I knew once I arrived back on the west coast things would change and fast, especially if I wanted to continue my career in the entertainment industry. All of my family and friends in California were from a size 0 to 5, anything bigger was a no no.

So, 6 months after I arrived back to Cali…I am still overweight by at least 15 pounds and I didn’t notice how bad I looked until I saw my photos from the last event.I was totally disgusted with myself. I think that was my turning point, we all have one…some choose unconsciously not to accept it.

I decided right then and there that if I am behind the scenes or in front of the camera I need to look my best at all times and one thing I knew for sure was, I did not want my weight to be an issue for anyone to speculate.I realize not everyone cares about fitting the standard of Hollywood “beauty”, but I sure do! One thing I knew for sure was that I want to always represent my clients, my company, my family and myself in the best light possible. Being fit and healthy can help me do just that plus add a couple more years to my lifespan.

So, I started looking up diets and found one that I thought would work for me, the “Lemon and Sea Salt Diet” in conjunction with a mild cardio routine. By the second day I actually felt lighter and healthier, the third day my friends thought I was a little to hyper and asked what I had been drinking, the surprise was I hadn’t had a glass of wine in a week. I had so much energy. I actually joked and said next time me and the girls hung out I was going to tell the bartender to give us all a round of “sea salt and lemon drinks on ice”, and it would be on me!

On a more serious note, this diet is very stringent and the weight loss is immediate. You see results over a 3 to 10 day period. The lemon and sea salt diet isn’t for everyone, its most appropriate for people who need to quickly cleanse their system of toxins or who want to lose enough weight to fit into an outfit in time for the weekend. This is the very same diet singer Beyonce used to lose 20 pounds for her role in the movie Dream Girls.

How It Works

The lemon and sea salt diet, also known as the Master Cleanse Diet and the Lemonade Diet, was originally created by natural healer Stanley Burroughs as a short-term fast to rid the body of toxins. In addition to working as a detoxifying diet, the lemon and sea salt regimen has gained worldwide attention as a quick weight loss solution. The diet is effective for fast weight loss because it eliminates solid foods, increases frequency of bowel movements and significantly decreases daily calorie intake.

Pros and Cons

As with any fad diet, there are pros and cons to losing weight with lemon and sea salt. The pros are that you can lose up to 2 lbs. per day, it is simple to make the mixtures and follow the program, and no long-term health problems have been associated with this diet. The cons are that drinking the liquid mixtures quickly becomes monotonous, you need to stay near a restroom and remaining on the diet too long may result in temporary side effects, such as fatigue and dizziness.

Although the lemon and sea salt diet is not known to cause any long-term side effects, this weight loss solution is not appropriate for everyone. Since this weight loss regimen is very strict, it is highly recommended that you check with your doctor before beginning the program. Medical professionals generally advise pregnant women, people with low blood pressure and cancer patients not to use the lemon and sea salt weight loss program.

Procedure

The lemon and sea salt diet is easy to follow. Simply mix 12 to 14 tbsp. of lemon juice, 12 to 14 tbsp. of maple syrup and 1/2 tsp. of cayenne pepper into 2 L of water. Whenever you feel hungry, drink this mixture. Drink the 2 L mixture completely by the end of each day that you stay on this diet. Other than the mixture, drink a salt water flush mix once daily. To make the salt water flush mix, just mix 1 tbsp. of sea salt into 1 L of water. These two mixes are the only components of the lemon and sea salt diet. You may drink as much water as you like.

Dr. Malachi Z York and the Nuwaubians from the Inside out on EOTM Radio

When first presented with the opportunity of covering Dr Malachi Z York’s story, seven years after he was sentenced to 135 years in prison, I honestly did not want to have any part of it. York was convicted on three counts of transporting minors in interstate commerce for the purpose of criminal sexual activity, one count of travel in interstate commerce with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity with minors and three counts of structuring cash transactions. I can remember watching many media outlets covering the story, reporting him to be yet another crazy cult leader exploiting its members sexually and financially.

I decided to entertain the idea of the interview considering the source, and in researching discovered areas of the reports that did not add up, which were reported by “reliable media outlets.” I have always believed as a responsible member of the media we are to present all facts, favorable and unfavorable. Not doing this will almost always sway the reader and in turn start a ripple effect of disaster, i.e. wrongful conviction, death, etc. I find it to be quite disturbing when news channels such as Fox News which asserts to be fair and balanced reports in this way.

In speaking with Hatshaep, a inside source of the Nuwabians Worldwide, she shared an interesting perspective, from the inside out. “This case is politically motivated and always has been, many victims in this case have recanted and all this is documented. The FBI made them say these lies under oath.” Hatshaep went on to explain how this case started with the zoning laws and how the city, local and state officials were against the Nuwabians resurrecting desolate land into an Egyptian Theme Park. This was very tricky even for the government officials because theoretically they could not charge Malachi with a crime whereas there was no crime committed in terms of zoning, which was the initial complaint. Hatshaep went on to give firsthand knowledge of the raid whereas 100 officers raided the Nuwabian Compound with guns and body bags, days after Dr York and his partner were arrested.

During his 2003 trial Dr. Malachi Z York with hopes of saving his co defendants, himself, family and his followers from anymore pain and humiliation he took a plea deal that was offered by the prosecution. This proposed plea would release his co defendants and would sentence him to 15 years in prison with 2 years of supervised probation, he took the plea and after seeing where the trial was headed he withdrew his guilty plea and chose to stand trial on federal charges, where he ultimately lost.

Many of York’s supporters believe the plea bargain was a ploy plotted by government officials to make him out to be the sex crazed cult leader that pleaded guilty of his own accord which was shown as such in every form of media imaginable.

Almost seven years after Dr York was sentenced it is important to report that besides his convictions, which he vehemently denies, he is also well-known for his innumerable philanthropic activities and is a respected teacher loved by hundreds of thousands.

Prior to his tenure as a “cult leader”, Dr. York was a musician and member of the Black Panther Party. In 1970 he embraced his own version of Islam, organized a cult called Ansaru Allah Community. The group transformed its ideology and changed names numerous times from Ansaar Pure Sufi, to the Nubian Islamic Hebrews to Nuwaubians. Tensions developed between York and the larger Black Muslim sects and he eventually took his group out of New York City and moved south where they eventually established the 440 acre compound in Putnam County, Georgia. Patterning their new community after a Hollywood caricature of ancient Egypt, the complex contained grand gates and pyramids.

Omarion Responds to Fake Press Release “I aint Gay or Bisexual, I love Women PERIOD!”

OMarion most definitely taking the good with the bad in stride…”it aint easy being me”, he posted on twitter. The 26-year-old singer/dancer made a special announcement on January 8th to counter and earlier bogus announcement that said he was coming out of the closet.

Several blogs took the bait and published the phony release that claimed he was formally announcing that he is “bisexual” The unedited press release read: “I pride myself in being an honest, God Fearing, respectful man. I have kept my personal life private and wanted to keep it that way. Unfortunately, others are interested in profiting from my anguish; so before they can do that, I will clarify things. I am not at all what certain ex-band members are trying to paint me as, I am however a respectable, mature, proud, bisexual man.”

Blackvoices.com’s Jawn Murray is reporting that the fake press announcement was attributed to Sharron Wright at Sony Music, but points out that Omarion (real name: Omari Ishmael Grandberry) hasn’t been on that label since April of 2008.

Francoise Blachette of The Purple Agency, who currently reps Omarion, promptly responded to BlackVoices’ inquiry:

“The previously released statement regarding Omarion is false and was generated for negative publicity by an unknown person. Omarion will not contribute to anything negative said or done against him. Omarion respects all of his fans, no matter religion, sexuality, or race,” she said in a statement.

Omarion also wanted folks to hear directly from regarding the matter, so he sent out this tweet:

Birds Fall From The Sky/Birds and Fish Dying

New Cases of unexplained wildlife deaths are popping up around the globe.

It all started on January 2nd as hundreds of blackbirds fell from the sky over Louisiana, days after a similar phenomenon in neighboring Arkansas.

This just in: There has been new cases reported in Italy, Florida, Arkansas and Texas and it appears that the mass deaths are not slowing down. Whether this is a natural occurrence that is just receiving unprecedented media attention or something else remains to be seen. On Wednesday, in Italy, it has been reported that hundreds, perhaps thousands, of dead and dying birds have been found littered in the streets, in flower beds, and hanging from trees. In Faenza, a town located in Northeast Italy, countless turtle doves were found dead, many with a mysterious blue stain on their beaks. According to Geopress.org, wildlife officials in Italy are suggesting that the blue stain is generally a sign of hypoxia, or suffocation. It may also be related to poisoning. Officials point out that poisoning of only one specific type of bird is highly unlikely. Officials also suggest that it is not uncommon to see record die-offs in these places; however they have never seen a number this high before. In Florida, thousands of dead fish were found floating along a waterway in Volusia County on Tuesday.

In Texas, officials are dismissing a large number of dead birds as a natural phenomenon. Dozens of dead birds were spotted on a bridge along highway 155 in Usher County, Texas. According to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Media Communication Director, Tom Harvey, it is not uncommon to see dozens of dead birds on this bridge including the American Coots here.

There’s been alot of recent talk about global conspiracies and this being some kind of biblical omen but from what I know about the bible in speaking with experts, there is no prophecy about the birds falling from the sky. However, as we already know scientific debunking will never stop the speculation. What’s interesting to me is that these animal deaths started less than two weeks after a total lunar eclipse.

In researching this topic I found people are airing their suspicions online, making, birds fall from the sky” and “birds and fish dying” top Google search suggestions for the word “birds”.

Growing up in Dawson Georgia, Timothy Blackwell has always been the one the family looked up to. Tim grew up with a host of siblings (1 brother and 6 sisters) and the family was raised by his mother and father. His mom and dad lived a decent life that could be expected in Dawson. The Blackwell family is known throughout the small town.

Tim’s father was a very hard working man who provided for his family as much as he could. He was involved in a bad car accident which resulted in both his legs being amputated a few years later. Tim’s mom was a true Woman of God who always instilled the love of God in each and every one of her children. As a young child, Tim’s goal and dream was to become the biggest drug dealer out of Dawson, GA. He decided to move to Atlanta, GA with his cousin straight out of high school. He was in between Atlanta, GA and South Florida for many years and then decided to permanently move to Florida and live the life as a popular Drug Dealer making over $30,000.00 a day on a good day. Tim’s life changed from the country boy to a well known South Florida boy. This life for Tim was the best at that time. Tim could have all the women he wanted and the finer things in life. Tim was connected to all the well known rappers and actually dated a well known female rapper out of South Florida. Tim’s clients were a lot of people that we all know and watched as we all grew up. Tim has been to jail numerous times and served approximately 3 years in prison.

This life was getting old, but the money was good. Tim met a female named Shanell Carter of Florida who grew in love with the big time drug dealer of South Florida. Shanell was living the life of the famous drug dealer’s girlfriend. Tim at the time could and did have all the women he wanted as he dated his girlfriend. Shanell went through a lot being the main girl of Tim. One day Shanell’s brother advised her that Tim is the best thing that could ever happen to her. Shanell did not understand at the time because she was going through so much with him. Shanell has met several females that Tim was dating at the time but her brother still told her to hang in with him because he’s a Pastor. Shanell wanted to break it off, but because of Shanell’s brother and Tim’s mom, she stayed with him. Shanell’s brother would call Tim’s phone where he would get all his connects and filled them up with scriptures and a lot of messages about the Lord. It was so many messages on his line; he would miss deals from major people. Tim was very upset and mentioned to Shanell to have her brother stop leaving all those messages. It got so bad that Tim thought about having some of his people pay Shanell’s brother a visit. Tim’s mom played a very important role in this ordeal because she knew that her son was the right person for Shanell. One night, the police were looking for Tim with helicopters and a swat team. Tim was caught and facing ten years or more for the type of business he was involved in. Tim was facing this as well as finding out the next day that his sister died. Tim was in so much pain facing the years and now his sisters’ death. Tim decided to have a talk with the Lord. He said, “If you take this case away from me, I will serve you for the rest of my life”. Tim continued to believe and speak that he was not going to do a day in prison. And sure enough, he got a phone call from his lawyer. His lawyer said, “I don’t know what happened, but everything has been dismissed!”

It doesn’t matter what you are going through, you can still get a chance. The lord granted Tim that wish and he did not serve one day in prison. Tim began to attend church with Shanell and eventually they found a church home that they attended for several years. Tim and Shanell got married about a year after joining the church. His mother was sick at the time, but was able to see her baby boy get saved and get married to the woman that she had previously told him that she was his wife.

Tim’s mother passed away a few months after him and Shanell were married, and that put the stamp of approval on his life with Christ. Also, his father passed away a few years later. Timothy Blackwell is now a Pastor and he and Shanell have a beautiful family with two kids. Pastor Tim is a true man of God and a man of great faith. He is a man who really does practice what he preaches. The ministry’s name is Faith in What God Desires Christian Center. They also have a ministry called “Kids Discovery Outreach” which deals with helping the less fortunate children and families. Kanye Blasts Today Show

Kanye West scrapped a planned concert for America’s ‘Today Show’, after a huge fall out with TV execs over his recent interview on the program.

Kanye was due to perform on the show to promote his new album ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’, but is now refusing to honor the commitment. The reason? An uncomfortable interview on ‘The Today Show’ earlier in the week left Kanye feeling “alone, used and tortured” after they played a clip his VMA outburst with Taylor Swift. Too funny!

Kanye took to his Twitter account to express his anger.

He tweeted, “I’m not performing on the Today Show for obvious reasons… I blatantly said I’m not performing on a Tweet and to everyone around me and the next day they still announced a performance.

“Do you guys see what I’m saying now? This is just a small slice of the day-to-day bulls**t that goes on that helps to precipitate the idea that (I’m) such an a**hole. Cause when I don’t perform ‘Oh now I’m the one that’s crazy or a jerk.’ ”

Earlier in the week Kanye had complained about the Today show interview through his Twitter.

He tweeted, “Let me tell you how they did me at the Today show… While I was trying to give the interview they started playing the MTV (clip) under me with audio!… I don’t mess with Matt Lauer or the Today Show… and that’s a very nice way for me to put it! He tried to force my answers. It was very brutal and I came there with only positive intent. I feel very alone, very used, very tortured, very forced, very misunderstood, very hollow, very very misused.”

The fabulous Canadian singer Celine Dion gave birth to fraternal twin boys in Florida today.

‘Celine, Rene and their son Rene-Charles are thrilled,’ the 42-year-old singer’s representative told People, adding that the babies were healthy but would spend the next few days in an incubator because they were born premature.

‘Celine is resting now and they plan to discuss what to name the boys when she wakes up,’ her rep said. ‘Rene-Charles has been to the hospital to visit his brothers and is just so excited they are here.’

Dion has won five Grammy Awards and sold more than 200 million albums around the world. Her hit, ‘My Heart Will Go On’, was the title song of the movie ‘Titanic’.

Speaking with Melissa Vincent she shares that she’s the oldest of four children. Born into a family with a long history of talent.  A daughter to John and Linda Vincent of Riviera Beach Florida. Melissa’s mom Linda Vincent is the Song Bird of the Palm Beaches having a host of Gospel hits being played throughout the sandy beaches of Florida airwaves. At the age of 8 Melissa took piano lessons which didn’t quite fit her personality. Her parents then decided to present her with the bass guitar which Melissa meshed in like a moth does to fire. A gift of discernment she possessed and the very same gift taught her how to separate the good from the bad things in life.

At the age of 14 years of age Melissa wrote her first song called “You’re Worthy” which was recorded my her mother Linda Vincent.  Melissa has played her Bass guitar for a host of people such as Barbara Ward Farmer, The Pace Sisters, Darius Brooks and The Church of Christ State Choir under the direction of the late Mattie Moss Clark, Bishop Jacob Cohen State Bishop and the list goes on and on.

Melissa became the Music Director for the Bible way COGIC.  Melissa moved on to become the Music Director for a slue of groups like the Heavenly Stars, The Spiritual Knights, 2 Shye, The Heavenly Angels from Miami and The  Heavenly Voices. The Lord saw that Melissa was great in all aspects of music and also blessed her with the gift of prophecy. At age 35 God bestowed upon her another gift, the gift of healing.

We all know when you have the blessing of the Lord, tricks of the enemy comes and Melissa was hospitalized for Ketoacidosis. Which causes a person to have no protein in their body. Some of the devastations of the disease is the  flesh starts to eat and feed upon its self.  As a result of no protein Melissa obtained 3 boils that had to be lanced, boils as large as 3X5 inches deep. The boils then started to spread to her abdomen area 2×2 inches. Poison started to spread throughout m her body. Her Doctors stated if Melissa had to stay home another day she would have died.

Melissa stayed in the Critical Care Unit for 3 days, and during those 3 days God took her to a place call purgatory.  Purgatory is a place the unbelievers and the hypocrites go after death.  Also known as “a Cold hell”. The punishment is seeing the living and they can’t see you or hear you.  After the dream she asked God what are telling me? God told her to tell the people, if you don’t know God then whenever you die, that’s where you will lay. PURGATORY. If you die in the streets, ocean, home or a mall that’s your purgatory until God comes. Four days later she was released from the hospital. Melissa states that she had three nurses; one nurse pact the wound, the other nurses gave her antibiotics for two weeks. The Doctors didn’t know when the wounds would close so they said six months to a year. God closed those wounds in one month and exactly 2 weeks. Melissa stands before us alive and well to share her story with the world.

As Melissa went through all her trials and tribulations, all she could think about was her bass.

Her bass guitar has been her peaceful state because in a way it takes away the pain. This is how and why God has blessed her to be the hottest female bass player. The enemy sent the illness upon her in an attempt to stop her. It didn’t work.
