BET’s The Game – Season Finale – Shoulda Been There

In Breaking News, Celebrity News on March 30, 2011 at 5:21 am

Season 4 of “The Game’ may have started a little iffy but it most definitely ended with a bang.

Yes — “The Game” finale makes the cut? For many….

For a show to be cut from the CW and put back on via BET — it is arguably a success.

With Malik potentially out of the picture, and Tasha out with him, the show’s shining couple, Melanie and Derwin close out the season finale with the kind of twist we have come to expect from the Writers.

Derwin and Melanie visit a fertility clinic to figure out why Melanie is having trouble getting pregnant. The doctor asks Melanie a list of questions, all of which would help him gauge her ability to get pregnant. One of the questions: Have you ever had an abortion? Melanie’s answer “Definitely not.” Tasha isn’t the only one who knows what it means when Melanie says “Definitely.” When the doctor leaves to place an order to draw some blood, Derwin asks her, “The abortion…was it mine?”

With that, season four of “The Game” is over.

Season four started off with a whopping 7.7 million viewers.

As much as the show wants to be funny and dramatic, it’s clear the creative team for the BET version has a flair for the dramatic. With such a cliffhanger and so many unanswered questions between Tasha, Malik, and most importantly Melanie and Derwin, season five of “The Game” has the potential to make the show even bigger.

What did you think of the season finale of “The Game”? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

BET’s The Game – RECAP – Espisode 4

In Breaking News, Celebrity News on February 2, 2011 at 7:21 am

By: Tawanda Cawthon

It’s all about The Game — I’m just saying —-

Okay, so some of you maybe thinking, RECAP — not needed. I disagree, The Game is so big right now my pet chihuahua makes me record every last episode. With that out the way, let’s go with the recap!

So, we are at  season 4, episode 4.  The latest installment of the popular sitcom was called “It Was All Good Just a Week Ago.” The episode featured Malik’s recent run-in with the law and Melanie continuing to try to fit in with the other wives and girlfriends.

In the preview for tonight’s show, viewers were reminded that Malik got arrested last week for a DUI charge. The episode finished with mugshots of Malik being splashed across the TV screen.

In tonight’s new episode, Tasha, Derwin and others learn about Malik’s arrest, thanks to a news report.  Also, Jason is back for this episode after being MIA last week.  He sees the news and immediately leaves the bar he’s at to go see about the situation.

Malik meets with the Sabers owner and a higher up who say they believe he will walk on these latest charges, because he’s a star in this town. They liken it to the fact that Shamu got away with murder but didn’t do any time for it. Malik is advised not to talk to anyone in public.

Tasha visits Malik to confront him about what happened with the arrest. Malik tells his mother he doesn’t want her around, because she works for Derwin. Tasha tells him she’ll be around no matter what happens, though. She bumps into Derwin on the way out, as his manager advises him it’s not a good idea to associate with Malik right now.

Later, Malik is out bowling and sees his pal Jason doing a news story for his sports talk show about staying in jail. Jason interviews people out and about who talk about all of Malik’s bad habits and how he isn’t a real role model.

Derwin comes home to find Melanie buried in various gadgets and gifts from Derwin’s sponsors. She chastises Derwin about the fact that he tried to visit Malik. She tells him this is about business, and he is a brand. She shows him a new Nike commercial with the expression “Boom!” attached to him. She also shows him that they are on the cover of Essence magazine then asks if he’s ready to give up all of his hard work.

A female friend visits Malik suggesting he go into rehab, if he wants to clean up his image. Malik isn’t having it, at all, and storms off.

Jason has Malik on the “Benched” sports talk show to discuss his latest troubles. Malik loses it on the air and goes off on everyone, then tells them to shut off the cameras. Jason tells Malik he’s his friend and wants to help him.  Malik yells at Jason and storms off the show’s set.

The show ends, as Malik holds a press conference to apologize for what he did to the police officer. He also announces he will check into rehab and will make it with the support of his family and friends. Malik says he plans to return to football one day but is going to handle his personal matters, first. The show closes with Tasha hugging her son, as the cameras flash. Okay — I can breath again!

The fabulous cast of “The Game” joined Monique on her late night BET talk show on Tuesday, January 18th.

Bringing “The Game” to the BET was probably one of the most well thought out decisions since the networks inception and it is paying off big time.

The Game premiered it’s 4th season on Tuesday night after a 3 season run on the CW that was canceled in 2009.

The show scored an astronomical 7.7 million according to the Nielsen Company, making it the No. 1 ad-supported sitcom telecast in cable TV history, BET said.

The figures also make it the No. 1 telecast ever of “The Game” on broadcast and cable.

Congrats to BET!  Looks like they will be making a few dollars in ad revenue on Tuesday nights.

October 7, 2010 — Can you believe it was ten years ago that BET created one of the greatest music video shows of all time. The last of the mohicans, 106 and Park is the only evening music video show on television today!

On Wednesday October 6th @ The Court Yard in Hollywood, California BET held a special reunion show featuring past and current hosts including Free, Aj, Rocsi, Terrence, Tigger and Julissa and celebrity guests such as Ashanti,  Omarron, Ray J, YG, Sierra, Bow wow and more.

Lil Zane made a surprise appearance and shared with the audience his first time on the set of 106 and Park, the impact BET has had on his life and how it has helped to change the hip hop world overall. It was most definitely a nostalgic event and not just for the live audience and the viewers world wide but for Zane as well. “I would not be here today if it wasn’t for media outlets such as BET”, Zane said.

In a recent statement Stephan Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials, talked about the impact of “106 & Park”: “Who would have thought that this little show that began September 11, 2000, with nervous producers and even more nervous first time hosts would turn into this highly successful, influential, game-changing daily energetic program about, from and to youth culture?”

106 and Park has been enthralling fans all across the country since the year 2000 and sure to continue to bring some of the rawest talent to the hip hop generation and the world for another decade.

Congratulation BET for a job well done!

Lil Zane Surprises contestants at BET 106&Park Auditions for Blaze the Stage in Los Angeles

In Clients and Events on August 2, 2010 at 12:32 am

July 31, 2010 (EOTM PR) West Coast Blaze the Stage, contestants competed for the chance to perform on BET’s 106&Park Wild Out Wednesdays. Pat Charles himself, head writer of the show, flew all the way in from NY to sit on the judge’s panel at the Los Angeles Convention Center. It was already a climatic and jittery experience for the performers in front of Pat Charles, BET’s top executive, but when Lil Zane hopped on stage exuding years of experience, high energy, and an octane performance, the bars were raised dramatically.

Zane rocked the stage with a new up and coming west coast artist by the name of Tipse, who kicked off their performance with the throwback cut, “Anywhere”, then later hit the crowd with a track off of his new mix tape, titled, “Put it in my Lap”.

At the closing of the program Zane was brought back on stage to enlighten the 106&Park hopefuls with advice on the industry and helped the rising stars to stay motivated, grounded, and to never give up on their dream. “Rehearse, rehearse, and rehearse, learn this business front to back and keep it original”, was the nugget Zane shared with the teens before walking off the stage.

Lil Zane most recently launched his new tour, “The Follow me Tour”, his return to the music industry. For the past couple years Zane has had roles in “A Day in the Life”, “Cold Case”, “Motives”, “The Fighting Temptations”, “Dr. Doolittle 2”, “Finding Forrester” and more.
