Prince William, Kate Middleton Officially Engaged!

It’s official..a royal wedding fit for a Prince and Princess in the spring of 2011!

Prince William and Kate Middleton released to the world a full a set of official engagement portraits Saturday, December 11th, shot by famed fashion photographer Mario Testino.

Testino is the same photographer who took iconic pictures of Princess Diana shortly before her 1997 death.

In the couple’s official portraits taken Nov. 25 in St. James’s Palace, London, Kate — who will now be known as Catherine — puts her 18 carat diamond on display. The platinum ring, which features an oval blue sapphire surrounded by 14 smaller white diamonds, is the same engagement ring that belonged to William’s late mother.

According to the Washington Post, Prince Williams ask the Queen not to make him a Duke. There has been much speculation about this and sources close to the royal family feel the Queen  faces an interesting dilemma over what to call Kate after Prince Williams suggests that she should become Princess Catherine . I’m sure the Prince wishes will be obliged.

The happy couple will wed April 29, 2011 and their nuptials should be the biggest royal event since Prince Charles married Princess Diana in 1981.
